Sullia: Woman working as coolie salutes national flag, earns appreciation

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Aug 16: A woman from a village, working as a coolie, was on her way to work on Sunday August 15 morning. Upon seeing that the national flag was fluttering, she removed her footwear and offered salute to the national flag before proceeding to her workplace. She was alone at that time.

The picture of the woman offering her respects in token of her patriotism has become viral in social websites. The woman concerned has drawn accolades because often people do such things when they are conscious about the presence of other people around. In this case, the woman was all alone.

The Independence Day celebration was organized by Gandhi Vichara Vedike. After the programme ended, a woman on her way to work, as soon as she saw the national flag, kept the things in her hands aside and saluted the flag. Someone who saw her doing this, clicked this photo. The picture was shared in his Twitter account by BJP national secretary, C T Ravi. He said in his tweet that the patriotism exhibited by the village lady is representative of the alacrity and earnestness of the Indian people on Independence Day.

Lakshmeesha Gabaladka, president of Gandhi Vichara Vedke analysed the photo as 'this is India' while noted thinker, Aravinda Chokkady shared the photo on Facebook.

Shankar MangalorePlease dont bring this spirit of Hinduism everywhere where it doesnt belong.we all are talking about Patriotism to the country, whereas you comment to everything that doesnt belong to religion sure.We respect this ladies Patriotism .such comments splits later the Nation.A national flag has to be respected by its citizens.but this lady has done without anyones notice ,or force I am sure not everyone will do that simply by passingby.I bow to her.

When in school we were taught about the national flag and how to salute it. But we as children used to attend Independence Day celebrations more for the sake of sweets that were distributed after the ceremony. Perhaps this poor woman might not have enjoyed such days during her childhood. Yet we can see her saluting the flag with utmost respect. My big salute to her.

Vicky D, Dubai - To realize the real projection of the photo " you need to watch that pic. through my eyes" I have some special qualities to find the beauty in real beauties and never criticize. Cynthia places you in so many places but Dubai these days bit difficult due to Covid 19 regulations and formalities.

Those who talk against Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru and his fly must learn from this woman how to respect our hard earned freedom struggle and National flag rather than digging great leader personal habits. Every election time the hate speech comes alive in our PM's agenda ! Jai Hind.

What so special about this picture!!! India belongs to it's citizens - it does not matter if the person is Rich or Poor! Patriotism is the result of how your parents, teacher & fellow citizens treat, speak & feel about the country!!! I feel pity for the people of Afghanistan, who are now confused to take decision on either to love their country or hate their country, after Taliban taken over under its iron grip!!!

Any normal citizen of this blessed land has more patriotism any day than all our politicians combined. Seeti Ravi should learn something from this woman than just tweeting it, talking against your own land just cos you are incharge of some other state doesn't give you the right to talk against your own land where you have been drinking the water all these years.

This is genuinely true patriotism than show off patriotism for the sake of records and photographs. Unfortunately these are largely neglected lot in our society by our Govt. Babus remember them only during elections for votes, else this category does not exist at all.!!
