Bengaluru: Would give Rs 10,000 to every needy family during lockdown if I was CM - Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Aug 16: “If I was the chief minister (CM) during the coronavirus lockdown, I would have given Rs 10,000 to every needy family. B S Yediyurappa and his son looted the exchequer but did not distribute funds to people who were wailing. They did not help those who were wandering due to loss of jobs,” said former chief minister and leader of opposition, Siddaramaiah.

He further said, “The BJP is about to close Indira canteens. There is someone called C T Ravi. He does not know what humanity is. He is totally ignorant about the poor people. He says that the name of Indira canteen should be changed to Annapoorneshwari canteen. He does not know about the history of this country.

“The present BJP government does not have funds. Have they done even a miniscule work? Housing minister Somanna neither gave land nor houses. Only lies. BJP leaders know only to lie. Please do not elect such people in next assembly elections.

“Does the BJP give ration from their pocket? It is public money. From public funds, ration is given to poor people. What is their problem in giving?

“BJP advocates Hindutva. But we advocate humanity. We are all Hindus. They are not the only Hindus in this country. Is there a single minister belonging to the minority community in the state BJP government? PM Modi says ‘Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas.’ Is it possible for a common man to buy cooking gas and petrol? If someone says no job, they ask him to sell Pakoda. Even to make pakoda the price of cooking oil has shot up to Rs 200 per litre.

“We do not know how many days Bommai will be the CM. We will not try to bring the government down. But if the BJP government collapses by itself, no one can do anything. Give your blessing to Congress in the next elections.

“Schools should be started. But positivity rate should be kept in mind. Based on that the schools should be reopened. Only if the positivity rate is less than one percent, the schools should be reopened. No need to hurry,” he said.
