Bantwal, Aug 17: “The blocking of freedom fighters' chariot by miscreants at Puttur taluk amounts to treason,” said MLA Rajesh Naik.

Speaking at the BJP office at B C Road he said that insulting freedom fighter Veersavarkar is like insulting the country and strict action should be taken against the guilty. “While the district was free from communal disturbances for the last three years, there are attempts to spoil peace,” he said.

BJP Mandala committee president Devappa Poojary said that the state government should request the centre to ban SDPI. “Congress and SDPI have developed friendship for administration at Bantwal municipal council. There is information that SDPI is indulging in certain illegal activities in the Bantwal vicinity. BJP and Sangh Pariwar will unite to campaign against it,” he said.

He questioned why Congress is silent over the incident at Kabaka. Referring to the wrong way of singing the national anthem by a municipal council member, he asked if it was deliberate or SDPI supported. “It should be made clear,” he said.

He said that the attention of the government will be drawn through the MLA regarding the incidents at Ullal and Kabaka for action against the guilty.

Chief secretary Ravish Shetty, Dombaya Arala heads Monappa Devasya, Ronald D’ Souza Amtadi, Prakash Anchan, Rathnakumar Chowta, Ganesh Rai, Purushotham Shetty, Keshava Daifala, Suresh Kotian, Harish Padu and others were present.
