Udupi, Sep 26: St Mary's College, Shirva started two new postgraduate (PG) courses, MCom and MSW affiliated to Mangalore University on Sunday September 25.
Episcopal vicar of the district Fr Baptist Menezes inaugurated the PG courses.
In his inaugural address, he appreciated the step taken by the management to help rural students pursuing their higher education.
Fr Denis Moras Prabhu honoured Fr Richard Coelho, the person instrumental in introducing the courses.
In his presidential address, Fr Prabhu expressed his thought saying many more PG courses be introduced in the college for the benefit of rural students.
Fr Wilson V D'Souza, Fr Edwin D'Souza of Catholic Board, Norbert Machado, vice-president and Melwin Aranha secretary of Shirva and other members of management committe were present.
St Mary's College correspondent Fr Stany Tauro welcomed the gathering. Dr John C Miranda, principal of college proposed the vote of thanks. Sarita Alva compered the programme.
