New Delhi, Sep 26 (PTI): Allaying fears of rains during the Commonwealth Games inauguration here, Minister of State Prithiraj Chavan today said that the monsoon is withdrawing and maintained that "pieces are falling in place" with regard to preparations for the event.
"As per the prediction of the IMD (India Meteorological Department), the monsoon was withdrawing and there was no possibility... very little possibility of rains during the Games inauguration," the Earth Sciences Minister told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.
Asked whether there was any plan to tackle the situation in case it rains, Chavan said "all contingency plans are generally there".
He said as far as the organisation and preparation for the Games is concerned, "the pieces are falling in place".
"Some concerns have been addressed. The Prime Minister himself has taken a leadership role and is undertaking daily review.
