Mangalore: Sporadic Rains Bring Down Temperature

Mangalore, Sep 27: Several places in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts received sporadic rains coupled with thunder and lightning in the afternoon on Sunday September 26. However, at night, most places received rains, bringing down the temperatures that had begun to soar.

Subrahmanya, Sullia, Puttur, Kadaba, Bantwal, Beltangady, Dharmasthala, Karkala and some other places registered good rains in the afternoon and late evening. The city and surrounding places as well as several other places in the coast received good rains at night. A few houses suffered damages due to lightning.

Dharmasthala recorded 11 cms of rain, highest in the state. Southern hinterlands of the coast too received good rains. The meteorological department has predicted normal to heavy rains in the coast and southern hinterlands, while northern hinterlands are expected to get scattered light to normal rainfall. This prediction is valid till Tuesday morning.
