Udupi, Aug 19: A district level representative’s meeting was held at Brahmagiri Congress Bhavan under Udupi district Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj organization on August 19 at 10.30 am. District convener of panchayat raj organization, Roshni Olivera welcomed and gave an introduction.
State Rajiv Gandhi panchayat raj organization president Narayana Swamy paid tributes to the portraits of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and former chief minister Devraj Urs. He said that former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was responsible for them remaining in power under the reservation system. “Former chief minister Devraj Urs has provided several pro people programmes for the people. Therefore, he is called as instrumental for the development of backward classes. The Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat raj organization will be started in rural areas so that activists may work creatively in taluk panchayat and district panchayat elections,” he said.
National advisor of Rajiv Gandhi panchayat raj organization V Y Ghorpade said that the conveners of the organization should obtain training and make the facilities that are available at their gram panchayats reach people.
The national advisor of the organization D R Patil said that elections should be held at village level for fulfilment of the dream of Grama Swarajya by Mahatma Gandhi. “The power will remain with the MLA and we have made plans to make it reach the gram panchayat level,” he said.

The programme concluded after the national anthem. Dr Sunita Shetty compered the programme.
