Bengaluru: State cabinet approves plan to clear Pachanady dump

Bengaluru, Aug 21: The state cabinet has given its nod to formulate a plan for the disposal of waste that has been accumulated in the Pachanady garbage dump within Mangaluru city corporation limits.

The waste dump at Pachanady has approximately nine lac tonnes of waste. As per the high court directions, the entire area has to be cleared and after the waste is removed, new waste disposal system has to be put in place. For this purpose, Rs 73.73 crore will be required. Out of this, scientific disposal of the waste is expected to yield Rs 22.95 crore. In the remaining Rs 50.78 crore, Rs 15.23 crore will be met by the city corporation while the remaining amount is planned to be met through KUIDFC loan, said minister J C Madhuswamy, after the cabinet meeting.
