Afghanistan situation alarming, hope govt evacuates all Indians: Cong

New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS): Moments after Afghanistan local media reported that 150 people including several Indians have been captured by the Taliban, the Congress on Saturday described the situation there as most alarming and hoped that the Narendra Modi government takes note now and and act decisively to safely bring back all Indian citizens.

In a tweet, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "This is most distressing and alarming. This was exactly the reason why Congress urged upon Modi government to evacuate all Indians and not abdicate its responsibility. Hope Modi government takes note now and act decisively to safely bring back all our citizens."

His remarks came soon after Afghanistan local media reported that the Taliban has captured over 150 people, mostly Indians, from Kabul airport earlier on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, over 85 Indian nationals were evacuated from Afghanistan by an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130J transport plane early this morning from Kabul airport.

The Taliban captured power in Afghanistan last Sunday and are now in the process to establish a government there.

    One thing is clear to the world now that all religious based political parties or use religion as thier main agenda are the biggest terrorists of the world. They do not follow the faith but use only to add more blasphemous laws and rules to already existing ones. Here in india our govt is one step ahead apart from its religious agenda adds patriotism to thier list to make it even more severe while they themselves were against independence of india and the constitution.

    Congress should urge the government to arrange special planes from India to Afghanistan as we see lot of people are scared in India and feel Taliban better. Patriotism doesnot revolt against your own country and makes everyone proud and love their country. Blind hatred towards the government shows the double standards and hypocrisy by your comment.

    Afghanistan local media reported that the Taliban has captured over 150 people, mostly Indians, from Kabul airport earlier on Saturday. If this statement from the Congress is true, then what assurances were obtained by our Reps in Doha when they met the Taliban reps. Obviously the hand of Pakistan seems visible in all such Anti Indian Measures being adopted by the Taliban.
