Karkala: Kannada Sangh, Kantavara Publishes 50 Books under Dr Na Mogasale’s Leadership

Karkala, Sep 28: “The Kannada Sangh that was set up in the remote village of Kantavara in1976 had embarked on a project ‘Naadige Namaskar’ aimed at publishing literary and cultural books on the land of Karnataka. Beginning with five books it has now reached half a century under the series and this has given a boost to the yeomen service of Kannada Sangh–Kantavara,” said its president Dr Na Mogasale.

“It was first formed to publish 30 books in 2006 on completion of 30 years. However it’s owing to the support of philanthropists and media the publication of books has reached half a century.  Meanwhile, further financial support would have set a new record,” said Dr Na Mogasale.

Dr Mogasale expressed his gratitude to all philanthropists including lifetime donor C K Padival, state culture department for their financial assistance since 2008, Karnataka Bank and voluntary social welfare organizations for their support in promoting Kannada literature from the remote village.  He further said that it’s owing to a large number of well-wishers, poets, and authors that the project has been a great success.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) retired vice-chancellor Dr B M Hegde released 10 books, the fifth by Naadige Namaskara project on Sunday September 26.

T Satish Pai, editor, coastal Karnataka’s leading Kannada daily ‘Udayavani’, presided over the programme.

Sandhya S Pai, editor and publisher, Kannada weekly ‘Taranga’, felicitated the authors of published books during the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Yashodara Karkera said that Kannada Sangh–Kantavar will remain grateful to Dr Na Mogasale for the service to Kannada literature and culture by entrusting the responsibilities to Allama Prabhu Peeta. V Ga Nayak was also present on the occasion.
