Shimoga, Sep 29: Relating to the death of Maitradevi, wife of state Chief Minister, Yeddyurappa, the district sessions court here dismissed a petition filed by advocate, Shashadri. In addition, it also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him for filing a frivolous petition.

Maitradevi had died after accidentally falling into a water tank located in front of her home in Vinobanagar here on October 16, 2004. In June 2009, the above advocate had complained to the court that the death of Maitradevi was not accidental, and that Yeddyurappa had played a role in her death. He had sought proceedings against Yeddyurappa under section 397 of Criminal Procedure Code.

The court had accordingly, directed the policemen to investigate the incident and submit a report thereof. The policemen, during their investigations, found the allegation made by Sheshadri to be having no substance, and reported to the court accordingly.

Sheshadri however, approached the district sessions court with a criminal revision petition, against the order of the lower court. After hearing both the sides, the court dismissed the petition filed by Sheshadri, apart from imposing a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
