Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Sep 29: In an incident that occurred in the outskirts of the town on Tuesday September 28, a railway employee was killed by a moving train. He has been identified as Krishnappa Gowda (50).

Gowda, working as Key Man for the railways since the last 19 years, was working on the railway line that passed over Gowri rivulet near Survey Railway Bridge. It is said that he did not see the oncoming train as the site is located at the end of a bend, and that the train in question was running much behind schedule. Some said Gowda would have been alerted if the driver had blowed the whistle as is mandatory while negotiating curves.

The deceased is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters. A case in this connection was registered by the railway police.
