Mandya: Four devotees drown in Hemavathi canal

Mandya, Aug 26: Out of eight young men belonging to Mysuru who had come to Shaktidevathe Sri Chandagolava temple near Beeruvalli-Natanahalli in K R Pete taluk in the district on Wednesday August 25, four lost their lives due to drowning in the Hemavathi canal.

Auto rickshaw driver, Ravi (27), had slipped and drowned in the canal while washing his feet. The other seven who accompanied him jumped into the canal to save him. Among them, Manju (20) from Mysuru Kumbarakoppalu, Raju (22) from Lokanayak Nagar, and Chandru (24) drowned. The other four swam to safety.
