Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SB)

Mangalore, Oct 2: Mangalore City Corporation in association with Rotary Club Mangalore Central and Rotaract Club Mangalore City observed “Gandhi Jayanthi” celebrations on Saturday October 2.

Speaking on the occasion, MCC commissioner Vijayaprakash said that it is very sad state of affairs that we are not following or recognizing the values that Gandhiji stood for. It is very important that programmes such as these are organized in order to help us remember that development has to be achieved by following Gandhi's ideals and not neglecting them, he said. He urged the government servants not to observe Gandhi Jayanthi as a holiday, which will be a true tribute to the great man, he said.

Mayor Rajani Dugganna regretted over the fact that the dream of forming a Ramarajya as envisioned by Gandhiji is still remains a dream.

Additional deputy commissioner S A Prabhakar Sharma was present.

Revenue officer Meghana and assistant Praveen co-ordinated the programme. Raghunath Ullal compered the programme.

Earlier, tribute to Gandhiji was paid by garlanding his statue at the Lalbagh in front of the MCC building. Mayor Rajani Dugganna, commissioner Vijayaprakash and Deputy Mayor Rajendra Kumar among others garlanded the statue.

Rotaract Club Mangalore City chairman Dr B Devadas rai, president Darshan, Rotary Club Mangalore Central president Herman Pierera, MCC chief whip Ranganath Kini and MCC Health Standing Committe president Shantha among others were present.

Meanwhile, like every year Gandhiji was paid revered by offering a special pooja at the Garudi near Capitanio here in the city.

Please dont worship Gandhiji but follow his principles. He must be a role model for all Indians. Peace and non violence was his dream and this dream is called Ramarajya and not what BJP profess. BJPs Ramarajya means devide/hate/destroy others....

This great soul who won freedom for India from the iron clutches of British imperialism through
nonviolent path is being vernerated by the billions all over the world but sad to say that, we the Indians
are not showing that passion like the rest of the world to honour
    and remember him.

This is high time for us all to reinvent a new spirit of reverence to Mahatma Gandhiji, for what he
he done and taught us about the great moral and spiritual values of life. His teachings are more
relevant these days because we are all deeply rooted in the mania of materialism which has turned as
a snare for all of us.

It is high time we replace the old bust of Gandhiji with a good quality bronze one on an improved polished granite pedestal with an inscription on its base "MY LIFE IS MY MESSAGE". Build a majestic cast-iron fence around it to protect it from vandalism. Our Gen-Next should always remember that this great soul of India is an ‘Apostle of Peace’.

“Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well”. - Mohandas Gandhi

Hope our political leaders and government authorities will understand his quote. By honoring the statue there is no meaning unless we all must practice his wish. Can we find any leaders like Gandhi in today’s politics? I bet surely NO. These corrupt and culprit politicians should not touch the Gandhi’s statue or take his name. How can we expect “RAMA RAJYA” when Ravana and his gang ruling us? Our political leaders want only the money, sex and land nothing else, so forget about “RAMA RAJA”, at least vanavasa is better than RAVAN {Mr. CM} and his gang {Minister’s & Local ruling authorities}ruling us.
