Mangalorean Denis Rodrigues Elevated to GM of Canara Bank

Mangalore, Oct 2: Mangalorean Denis Rodrigues hailing from Kinnigoli in Dakshina Kannada District, has been elevated to the position of General Manager in Canara Bank, one of the few Mangalorean Catholics to occupy this coveted post in Canara Bank. This is indeed a matter of great pride for all Mangaloreans to see one of its own ilk to have risen to this prestigious post by his sheer ability, talent and hard work.
Denis Rodrigues, son of Agnes Cecilia Rodrigues and late Banjamin Rodrigues of Kinnigoli is an academically oriented officer with qualifications in diverse fields of interests. He is a double postgraduate in English Literature and MBA in Banking and Finance. He is also postgraduate diploma holder in Journalism, an experienced trainer with a postgraduate diploma in Training and Development and also a P G Diploma holder in Public Relations. He is also a Certificated Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. With such high academic credentials and rich experience he was the natural choice for the top managerial post.
Denis Rodrigues had joined Canara Bank in 1970 and in the last four decades has rendered valuable service in various capacities in places such as Kolkotta, Bangalore, Mangalore, Goa, Ahmedabad, Belgaum and Sagar. He served in Mangalore as a Public Relation Officer between 1987-90 and was responsible for the high-voltage campaign launched by the bank taking it to the zenith of popularity. He has long and successful stint in the Marketing and Development department of the bank’s head office in Bangalore, and was largely responsible for the bank’s rebranding and repositioning efforts. The now popular ETV Kannada musical talent hunt programme “Ede Tumbi Haaduvenu” was originally handled and coordinated by him. Denis Rodrigues also held the high profile responsibility as the Coordinating Executive during the Bank’s Centenary celebrations held in 2006.
Married to Lynette Rodrigues, also a banker who hails from Bendoor parish, he is presently based in Mumbai serving in Bank's Mumbai Circle Office at Cuffe Parade. His daughters Rashmi is a Post graduate in Pharmacy and Deepa is a software Engineer.
With a string of achievements to his credit Denis is sure to create his own niche Canara Bank the and take it towards greater heights of glory in the days to come.
