Aug 31: DK reports  224 corona cases, Udupi adds 150; seven deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 31: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, Aug 31 reported 224 new coronavirus cases and six deaths, while Udupi registered 150 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 15,50,384 samples have been tested so far, out of which 14,40,358 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,10,026 out of which 2,322 are currently active.

As many as 248 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

The district recorded six deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,574.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,04,80,120 as fine in 86,248 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 9,68,862 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 150 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 73,893 out of which 1,514 are currently active.

A total of 158 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

Out of 150 new patients, 135 are in home isolation while 15 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 150 cases, as many as 52 are symptomatic and 98 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 73 new cases, Kundapur registered 31 and Karkala 45. One case was from out of district.

Coronavirus has claimed 453 lives in the district so far, including one on Tuesday. The person  who died on Tuesday was from Udupi.

So far, 7,52,027 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,67,651 have received the second dose.

A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 2 are currently active.

    Yes.We will stay at home forever like life imprisonment.How long people have to stay at home?. We need to learn to live with virus.....No it is time to get new vaccine and medicine.Thats it.Enough of staying at home.We all are fed-up of this..
