Bengaluru: Arun Singh dissuading Yediyurappa from undertaking proposed state tour

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Sep 1: Reportedly, the party bigwigs are unhappy at the proposed state tour by former chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa. Yediyurappa had planned to undertake a whirlwind tour of the state after Ganeshotsava with the aim of strengthening the party. But the leaders of the party are trying their best to convince him to change his mind, sources said.

These leaders feel that touring of the state by the former CM may give a wrong message as the BJP is in power in the state. They also are of the opinion that such a tour may be construed by the people as preparation for the next election. As the next election is due only in 2023, the opposition parties may capitalise on this issue and attack the BJP. Therefore, the leaders feel that without strong reasons, there is no need to organize this tour at this juncture.

It is said that the national leaders have been making efforts to convince Yediyurappa to drop the idea of state tour now. In January next year, election will be held for 25 legislative council seats from local bodies. At that time even the taluk and zilla panchayat elections may be held. The BJP leaders feel that it would be prudent for several leaders of the party to together undertake the tour the state then.
