Mangaluru , Sep 1: After a yawning gap, physical classes have been started in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district from Wednesday September 1. Physical classes for second PU students alone began in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district while in Udupi, ninth to 12th class students can attend physical classes.

PU classes had commenced sometime back in the state except in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts because of the fact that the average positivity rate had remained over two percent.

The classes are being held with 50 percent attendance. Second PU is a crucial stage in a student's life as the marks obtained there decides about the professional courses they can pursue. Dakshina Kannada district deputy director of public instruction, Malleswamy, said that the deputy commissioner, in consultation with the district in-charge minister, may announce his decision about restarting physical classes for standards 6 to tenth standards.

In Narayana Guru College Kudroli, second PU classes commenced on Wednesday. Twenty students were allowed to attend the physical classes but only 14 attended classes.
