Amit Shah to visit Davanagere on Thursday, CM to discuss various issues

Bengaluru, Sep 1: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Davanagere to participate in various development projects in the region and the State Government intends to utilise the opportunity for discussing several key issues, including Central projects, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Wednesday.

Talking to media in Hubballi on way to his official visit to Haveri district for inaugurating several projects in his assembly constituency of Shiggaon and other places, the Chief Minister said several Union Ministers will also be joining the Union Home Minister and the government plans to take up several pending issues.

Bommai said the State police department was seriously monitoring all anti-national activities and was working in close coordination with the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

The State police were constantly monitoring the situation in coastal and forest areas and keeping a close vigil on all extremist and anti-national forces, he said the efforts of the State police have helped NIA to nab several culprits.

The Chief Minister made it clear that the State Government will be announcing its decision on public celebration of the Ganesh festival on September 5 after consulting the medical experts and reviewing the Covid situation in the State.

He said the State Government has already withdrawn the weekend curfew in the border districts which have succeeded in bringing down the positivity rate. The present Covid restrictions will be relaxed as the situation improves because the State Government is also interested in normal activities to be carried out, he explained.

The Chief Minister warmly appreciated his cabinet colleagues and said many of the ministers were quite capable and successful in handling their responsibilities. The entire cabinet is responsible for running the administration and implementing the development programmes, he said.

Bommai also claimed that the ruling BJP will be getting a clear majority in Hubballi-Dharwad, Kalaburgi and Belagavi Municipal Corporation elections.

He later inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several projects at Tadasa, Shiggaon and other places.

Water Resources Minister Govind M Karjol, Public Works Minister C C Patil, Agriculture Minister B C Patil and others accompanied the Chief Minister.
