New RS Secretary General urges officials to take more initiative within rules

New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS): A day after taking charge the new Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha PPK Ramacharyulu urged the senior officials of the Secretariat to take more initiative in effectively meeting the needs of the House and its members.

He held a two hour long review meeting with senior officials on Thursday to identify the bottlenecks in the present functioning of the Secretariat and evolving an action plan for it's improved performance.

He also thanked the Rajya Sabha Chairman M.Venkaiah Naidu for reposing confidence in and appointing an insider for the first time in about 70 years as Secretary General. Ramacharyulu urged the officials to work as a more dynamic team to meet the expectations of the Chairman.

He urged the officials to be more pro-active in highlighting the functioning of the Rajya Sabha and the Secretariat by taking necessary initiatives. He called for professional and more effective coordination with the media to highlight the functioning of various committees of the House and the reports submitted by them from time to time.
