Bengaluru, Sep 3: Results of the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2021 for admissions to professional engineering, technical and medical courses in Karnataka will be announced on September 20 and admissions for degree courses can be done till October 1, Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan announced in Bengaluru on Friday.

Addressing the media representatives, he said the CET 2021 was done on August 28, 29 and 30 and the entire CET process will be completed without any problems.

Decision on fixing the fees for engineering courses will be finalised next week, the minister said and warned the college managements that the fees fixed by the government will have to be strictly followed and stringent action will be taken against private managements if they flouted the prescribed fees.

The interests of the students will be taken into account while deciding the fees for engineering courses, he said making it clear that there was no chance for levying higher fees in the guise of implementing the National Education Policy.

The Minister advised students to get admissions in government colleges which were charging very minimum fees while girl students were provided with free education.

He admitted that some private colleges were charging higher fees under various pretexts and declared that action will be taken against such colleges. Merely because there is no government panel to fix the fees in degree colleges, it should not be an excuse for charging exorbitant fees, he said.

Responding to criticism from Congress opposition leader Siddaramaiah against the implementation of NEP, he said the State Government will give a suitable reply to all criticisms in the forthcoming legislature session. The process for framing the new education policy started seven years ago and the government is going ahead with implementation from this year, he said.
