Udupi, Sep 4: The district of Udupi stands third after Bengaluru City and Dakshina Kannada districts with regards to the number of active Covid cases which stand at 1,180 as of now.

Positivity rates of twin districts is slowly reducing. The average positivity rate which was 1.54% in the last 14 days has come down to 1.27% in the past week. This information was shared by deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao at the press conference that was held at the zilla panchayat campus on Friday September 3.

He said, “The district administration has taken several measures to reduce the Covid infection. In the past week 63,398 Covid suspected tests are conducted at an average of 9056 per day. This is the highest testing rate in the state.

“Those arriving from the state of Maharashtra are allowed to enter the district only if they have negative report of Covid 72 hours prior to starting of journey.

“The district administration has decide to admit all new Covid infected cases to institutional or hospital separation. This will prevent the spread of the infection.

“The district administration has administered more than 1,20,000 doses of Covid vaccine in the past week. The third wave of Covid is going to infect more children. There is also possibility that the Covid third wave may infect people who are above the age of 18 and who are not vaccinated. Kavrady gram panchayat has the proud honour of completing 100% vaccination of its residents.

“As on September 2, tests are carried out on 9,85,543 people. Out of this 74,095 positive cases are reported. In the last 14 days the daily test numbers are 6189 which is the highest in the state. The daily positivity rates of past 14 days is 131. This is reduced to 113 in the past week. The average positivity rate of the district in the past 14 and seven days is 1.54 and 1.27 respectively.

“In total 456 people have died of Covid in the district. The death rate is 0.61% against the state average of 1.26%.

“Apart from Covid insect-related diseases affect the people during monsoon. Till the end of August 2021 19 cases of Malaria, 298 cases of Dengue and eight cases of Chicken Gunya, brain fever are reported.

“The district administration has requested public to get themselves tested in nearby primary health care centres for malaria in case they are suffering from fever.

“The district administration has taken out notice to take preventive measures to avoid stagnation of water, which will breed mosquitoes. People arriving from Kerala need to be monitored for Covid as cases are on the rise in that state,” he said.

The DC also said that in 2021, 32 cases of rat fever and 1,589 cases of dysentery have been reported in the district.

    Thank God ,There are 2 Distinction districts in Karnataka namely DK and Udupi always contributing high in terms of taxes ,RTO etc ..but always receiving only melons from the govt. IF they go against the govt for harmful projects such as nethravathi govt they will be given awards or put behind bars as maoists and treated as aliens by kannadigas ..
