Mangaluru: Spirited Teachers’ Day celebrated at Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru, Sep 5: Commemorating the birth of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Mount Carmel Central School celebrated Teachers’ day with a thanksgiving Mass by Fr Rudolph Raj Pinto OCD, who in his homily propounded the significance of nature and nurture, emphasizing the importance of teachers in nurturing a student’s life.

A get-together of the management, staff and a few PTEC members followed in the School Auditorium. Sr Melissa, the principal in her welcome address cheerfully greeted and welcomed the joint secretary, Sr Maria Anita, the administrator Sr Carissima, the PTEC members, the teaching and the non-teaching faculty. She thoughtfully acknowledged and appreciated the MCCS staff for their joyful and dedicated service. A heartfelt yet entertaining online programme organized by the students of Grade X and XII was streamed, adding to the merriment of the occasion. Tapping to the music of Indian raga, the students performed a welcome dance and greeted the staff through a song. The significance of Teachers’ day was sketched, elaborating the contribution and achievements of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Adding humour and laughter to the programme, the play highlighted and represented the efforts of the teachers during the testing times of the pandemic.

Representing the parents, Dr Preethi DSouza greeted the staff. In her address, she congratulated the faculty for their immense efforts put in the online learning of the children. She placed her gratitude on behalf of every parent, for making a difference in the life of a child. The PTEC members presented a token of love and gratitude to the staff.

The release of the school magazine “Carmel Syndeo” by Sr Maria Anita, the joint secretary along with the editorial board, brought forth a nostalgic charm of two years gone by Sr Carissima, the administrator addressed the gathering emphasizing the need to continue educating the children holistically and thereby build a humane society just as Dr Radhakrishnan did. Teachers play an important role in this process. Sr Lidwyn, the vice principal, got the teachers on to their competitive best by conducting a few games.

Sr Maria Anita, joint secretary of the school extended her warm wishes of the day to the teachers. A token of love and appreciation was presented to the staff by the management. The programme concluded with a fellowship meal. The celebration left teachers with a deep sense of gratification in this noble profession of educating the children.
