Sep 5: Dakshina Kannada records 183 new cases and one death; Udupi adds 130

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 5: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday September 5 reported 183 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 130 new cases and no death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 16,04,650 samples have been tested so far, out of which 14,94,592 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,10,058, out of which 2,107 are currently active.

As many as 221 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,07,357.

The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,594, out of which five are non-Covid deaths.

The positivity rate in the district stands at 1.70%.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,05,53,370 as fine in 86,714 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,07,979 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 130 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 74,472, out of which 1,432 are currently active.

A total of 70 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 72,583.

Out of 130 new patients, 124 are in home isolation while 16 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 130, as many as 62 are symptomatic and 68 asymptomatic.

While Udupi taluk reported 71 of the 130 cases, Kundapur recorded 24, Karkala 33, and two from outside the district.

Coronavirus has claimed 457 lives in the district so far.

So far, 7,96,650 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,86,311 have received the second dose.

A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far. No cases of black fungus are active.
