Mangaluru: MLA U T Khader urges govt, district administration to lift weekend curfew

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Sep 6: MLA U T Khader urged district administration and state government to consider lifting the weekend curfew in the district.

Addressing the media here on Monday September 6, Khader said, “The weekend curfew has been imposed in the district with only essentials open till 2 pm. Why is there no permission for other shops such as footwear and textiles? What is the logic behind the weekend curfew?

“The district administration should consider lifting the weekend curfew in the district. People will host parties or functions either on Friday or Monday instead of the weekend. It is better to impose night curfew strictly to avoid social gatherings during the night. We have our MLA who submitted a memorandum to the chief minister (CM) to withdraw weekend curfew when they themselves are in the task force committee. The MLAs want to appease and create confusion among people by submitting memorandum to the CM.

“A year ago, they submitted a memorandum to the CM to distribute boiled rice in the district and also to bring in a separate sand policy here. It has been a year without implementing it. Instead of submitting a memorandum, they should work on implementing it by discussing the matter with the concerned officials,” said Khader.

I feel sorry for the Cong leaders. The weekly press conferences, futile protests with a very min attendance, ageing motor mouths has led the party to its grave in Ktaka or in India for that matter. The irony is the grand old party still bank on these Ramu Kakas without giving chance to young bloods. This strategy has led to its doom. Luckily guys like Khader have a 'safe' constituency to bank on. But all are not that previliged. Today all are challenigng Khader to contest from a constituency outside Ullal. Khader has to accept this and prove his credentials.

I am for lifting all covid related lockdowns. But before lifting the lockdown, implement a very strict 14 days complete lockdown. No one should come out except for medical emergencies. Not for milk, not for groceries..nothing. At the end of 14 days, if anyone develops symptoms like fever, get them tested and isolated.
