Sep 6: DK reports 258 corona cases, Udupi adds 53; three deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 6: Dakshina Kannada on Monday, Sep 6 reported 258 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, while Udupi registered 53 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 16,15,466 samples have been tested so far, out of which 15,05,150 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,11,316 out of which 2,136 are currently active.

As many as 227 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

The district recorded two deaths due to coronavirus on Monday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,596.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,05,68,670 as fine in 86,761 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,13,052 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 53 new cases were reported on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 74,525 out of which 1,417 are currently active.

A total of 67 patients were discharged from hospitals on Monday.

Out of 53 new patients, 49 are in home isolation while 4 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 53 cases, as many as 30 are symptomatic and 23 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 33 new cases, Kundapur registered 9 and Karkala 10 and one case was from out of district.

Coronavirus has claimed 458 lives in the district so far, including one on Monday. The person who died on Monday was from Karkala.

So far, 8,08,211 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,92,292 have received the second dose.

A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.

    If not controlled now and people follow DON'T CARE POLICY, this epedemic will see most deaths in Dakshina Kannada in India or even the entire world. Anybody can say anything , health experts may say anything . government may give guidelines or vaccination,but the final responsibility rests on us. Its our life not other's. Stay Safe

    Just when a Hindu festival comes we see people with fake names talking about staying at home. Isnt mass gatherings happening in every religious institutions currently? You can't forever stay at home but the time has come to adjust every function with the covid norms.
