Mangaluru: Appeal - 31-year-old Prashanth seeks help for medical treatment

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Sep 7: A 31-year-old man, who should have been enjoying his youth days like other youngsters, is instead fighting for his life.

Prashanth, a resident of Achinadka, Beltangady here, had many dreams for his family. He wanted to get married, and build a house for his family. He was determined to make his dreams a reality through hard work. Unfortunately, luck was not in his favour.

Few weeks ago, one morning, he suddenly felt weakness and breathing problems. His legs started to swell and he could not stand and walk properly. Immediately, his sister, who has already got married, rushed him to Justice K S Hegde Hospital, Deralakatte. After the specialized medical check-up, he was diagnosed with clinical leptospirosis with multi-organ dysfunction, acute renal failure, acute hepatitis and myocarditis, a rare disease that can be fatal unless treated.

Now Prashanth is undergoing specialised treatment in the same hospital. He is in the MICU and breathing with the help of a ventilator. Meanwhile, he is regularly undergoing dialysis. The cost of treatment exceeds approximately Rs 30,000 per day.

Prashanth’s family has already spent over Rs five lac for medical expenses. Now they are unable to afford the hospital expenses. They are under immense pressure. If the required surgeries are not done, Prashanth may have to suffer for life.

The family members are now helplessly watching in dismay as Prashanth’s health is deteriorating with each passing day. They are now seeking financial help from willing donors to provide treatment for Prashanth. They hope his treatment continues and he can lead a normal life again.

Those who wish to donate and help Prashanth, may send their contributions to the following bank account details:

Very unfortunate incident, empathize with him! BTW, many children & youngsters are dying in UP due to leptospirosis, dengue, & scrub typhus! The mortality rate for leptospirosis is very high at 45-70%; but if caught early, it can be treated with antibiotics! People should avoid wading in contaminated water without protection especially those with cuts or wounds, but it's better said than done in a dirty place with dirty water freely spilling on the roads everywhere and multiplication of rats, stray dogs etc! Wishing him a fast & full recovery!
