Mangaluru: Huge potholes on both bridges at Kulur disrupt traffic movement

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Sep 12: Since many days it is a common scene of traffic congestion on both the bridges at Kulur due to the huge potholes that are created.

Due to the potholes, the vehicles travel at snail’s speed which causes queues for many kilometers during rush hours of morning and evening. Many cars get damaged as their chassis touches the road.

Emergency vehicles like the fire service and ambulance are facing problems. People arriving at the airport and railway station from Udupi are not able to reach their destinations on time. The public has been requesting to repair the potholes, at least temporarily.

The construction work of a new bridge has just started at Kulur. It might take at least a year and a half for it to get completed. Till then traffic has to move on old bridges. Pedestrians are finding it very difficult to cross the bridges.

Underground drainage work is in progress at Kulur. Some trucks are parked by the side of the road. These trucks move over the silt that is piled at the edges of the road. This silt gets carried to the tar road when the trucks move on it. This causes danger to two-wheelers.

The project director of NHAI Shishu Mohan said that he is aware of the potholes on both the old bridges at Kulur and the same will be rectified once the rain subsides.

A Country's or a state's leadership can be judged by just seeing the condition of its roads. Crores of tax payers money is spent on concretization, but there will always be some bottleneck on these roads. for eg, the road near indrayali bridge connecting udupi to manipal is in a very bad condition. Both sides of the road r concretized. The udupi DC daily travels on this road. This country will never develop until these politicians whichever party they belong exist.

When it comes to collection of toll, introduction of new taxes (Smart City, Waste management etc.,) our Babus and consequently politicians are very diligent and want to start collecting immediately. But when roads reach a state where it would be an insult to compare them with mud roads, same diligence is not shown. What a shame...

Nalin Kateen, should focus on Total development of DK and State and not flashing Binaca Smile. Does Nalin knows what is he supposed to do? Or he got elected only because of Mr. Narendra Modi. Nalin should step down and HQ should find a suitable candidate to carry out development work in Karnataka. Jai Hind, Jai Sri Ram.

the biggest issue in India is the centre and state relationship..due to this many projects handled by center are not done if the ruling govt in state is different..this stands good for both Congress and more so for BJP.. ideally INdia should be ruled in lines like UAE..Each state should be responsible for its own development without seeking funds from others..there should be a central council which then can allott money after discussion with individual states...this is how exactly UAE is ruled.. i know now the internet soldiers of saffron party will pounce on me as usual and say go to UAE..ha ha ha

Arun, Mangalore Chitradurga to Hospet is no doubt awesome...that's the reason why Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India Nitin Gadkari has shown a step motherly treatment to Karnataka and rolled this under the carpet. Being a RSS man, his primary objective is to enhance road safety by curbing the number of accidents in his RSS stronghold in Nagpur (Maharashtra) and in turn adopting a care-a-damn-attitude to other states of the country. He is racing against time to expedite the dream come ambitious project of laying new roads in record time. No doubt the condition of most of the roads all over the country in various states is in an abject pathetic state.

If they cannot repair the road and maintain it, then why they collect Toll at Surathkal Toll gate? It was earlier told that once Hejmadi Toll gate is operational, then Surathkal Toll gate will not be there but it continue to loot public money. Once you reach Surathkal toll, the roads are not good at all.

Today I travelled from Hampi to Mangalore and was talking about the road works. The roads from Chithradurga to Hospet is awesome and can travel 125 kms within 90 minutes, however the distance from Udupi to Mangalore and require more than 90 minutes. Why the roads are not developed in same way as that of Central or North Karnataka?

Cos people here vote blindly. People are so shameless that even if MLAs and MP personally visit the voters houses and slap a few, they will still vote these people itself. They have been brainwashed so they neither care about development nor employment nor roads nor nothing.

They have gone to blow trumpet behind Nalin and praising Modi! They are brainwashed hence can not shake BJP MP/MLA's from deep slumber! Downfall of Coastal area is due to failure of Bhkathas not shaking elected reps about their basic duty! They are only talking about Congress and Nehru!!! Highest tax, Toll, GST collection in Mangalore / Udupi.... in terms of development....a raw deal...scared to ask share of development in undivided DK! They know religion card will retain power! No need of good roads and reasonably priced fuel! What say Jeevan, Adithya type of bhakthas???

Will the BJP government has the money for any road works? They have squandered public money on buying Congress MLA's at the rate of 500 Crore. The rest was spent on publicity and to pay the Godi Money and for 2 rupees BJP IT trolls.
