Kerala BJP writes to Amit Shah for protection of Catholic Bishop

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 12 (IANS): In a deft political move, Kerala BJP state general secretary and former Vice Chairman of All India Minorities Commission, George Kurien has written to Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to provide protection to Arch Bishop of Pala, Bishop Joseph Kallarangatt after Islamic organisations came out in the open against the Bishop.

Bishop Joseph Kallarangatt had while addressing the faithful at Marth Mariam Pilgrim Church at Kuruvilangad in Kottayam district on Wednesday, had said that non-Muslims are subjected to 'Narcotic Jihad' in Kerala. He said that there were two types of Jihad -- Love Jihad and Narcotic Jihad.

He had said that the 'Narcotic Jihad' is the activity of spoiling the life of non-Muslims, particularly youths by making them addicted to drugs, the Bishop had said.

The BJP state general secretary in the letter to the Union Home Minister said that the Chief Minister of the state, as well as the opposition leader, had come out against the Bishop and that this has given strength to the Islamist organisations to conduct a public protest against the Bishop.

Kurien while addressing media persons at Kochi said, "The position taken by the Chief Minister and that of the state Opposition leader have given strength to the divisive organisations and for the first time in the history of the state, extremist organisations conducted march towards Bishop's House."

He said that the extremists who took part in the march used filthy language against the Bishop near the Bishop's house. The senior BJP leader said that the extremists had also threatened the Bishop that he would not be allowed to walk freely in the street.

George Kurien while speaking to media persons said, "In this context of threat to the life of a Bishop, I have requested Union Home minister, Amit Shah to provide protection to Bishop Joseph Kallarangatt."

Union Minister of State for External Affairs and former Kerala state president of BJP, V. Muraleedharan had on Saturday said that the period of "Palm Chopping of Islamic Extremists" is over and that the BJP would give complete protection to the Bishop.

The BJP which is struggling to get a foothold in the state is trying to make use of this anti-Bishop remarks by both the mainstream political parties of the state, CPM, and the Congress as an opportunity and trying to capitalize on the same.

BJP fishing in troubled waters. hope the bishop sees through their game. The day Indian politicians stop fishing in troubled waters and focus solely on development and universal well-being, India will become a developed nation.

Alfria Mangalore /Mumbai,we dont need to mix in Keralas affairs.Because in kerala you will see most of problems in Assembly ,churches ,politics or on roads. One who mixes in their affairs ,will be the looser.we need not argue for them. There was also no need for the priest to name which jihad it is.what they /he has created has to think over ,and do the needy self.Too much mixing in politic for a priest is not needed. Now BJP has intervened ,let them eat what they cooked.Priests and Bishop has to see what in their own religion wrong and correct it ,before looking into jihads.

No need to do Christian appeasement here because Christians have majority in Kerala. Now it’s clear on whose behest Bishop was talking. Christians very well know how much BJP are in love with them. Remember Mangalore church attacks and Kandanmal priest attacks and assault on innocent nuns, priests, and faithfuls and Somshakers’s communal report on these attacks???????……No Thank You BJP.

Having failed in every attempt in the past to polarise the people of Kerala including using all the Central Agencies to destabilise the elected Govt in the Gold smuggling case including the Sabarimala Judgement by the Supreme court, they are now trying to cause social tensions in Kerela by exploiting the statement made by the Bishop in Pala They could instead stop the sale of our country. "Sale of Indias Assets by BJP", the Modi government has undertaken the sale of Rs 6 lakh crore worth of India's national properties created over the last 67 years. The "For Sale" of India's hard-earned assets is the single biggest "anti-national" act. The national properties are being sold -- rather squandered away by the Modi government as a "clearance sale"."The Rs six lakh crore sale of India's properties is shocking as the Modi government has put India's every public asset on sale," These include, 27,000 kms of highways, 6,000 MW of power generation and 28,000 kms of power transmission lines, 8,000 kms of gas pipeline, 210 lakh metric ton of foodgrain storage, 2.86 lakh kms of telecom fibre and 15,000 telecom towers, 25 airports, nine ports, 761 mining blocks, two national stadiums, 1.52 lakh crore worth of railway property. Along with ‘disinvestment' and ‘privatisation', the Modi government has now hit upon the idea of ‘monetisation', that is, transferring effective ownership of public assets created over the last 67 years to a handful of crony friends, while the government will hang on to a piece of paper of ownership that will only be returned to the government at the end of 30 to 50 years.

You might be tired remembering and writing all these. Y don't you have some coconut water n relax. Regarding selling of country assets..I think comparatively negligible compared to khangress Era whr looting n appeasement was the main agenda. One more thing your hatred for BJP is in par with your hatred towards Bishop who is talking about real issue.
