Udupi, Sep 16: Felicitation ceremony of Cherkady Doddamane Sulochana Shetty Kodavoor held at Kodavoor Shankaranarayana temple on Wednesday, September 15 to mark her completion of 75th birthday.
She is a known teacher by profession, social convener, fighter, writer, poetry, excellent in cooperative sector and a health warrior.
Jayaram Hegde, senior citizen of Cherkady Doddamane presided over the function.
The chief guest, Janaki Brahmavar, former president of Tulu Sahithya Academy speaking on the occasion said, "Sulochana Kodavoor is a daring woman. She is a good teacher, a good author and a health warrior as well. She had created her own bench mark in various fields. Words are not enough to describe her personality. Her life is model for all of us".
Another guest of the event Rennie Dsouza, director, PADI Valored institution said, "Sulochana is a big asset to education field and the society. Her role in literacy movement was a huge contribution to Dakshina Kannada district"
Padmavibhushana awardee Dr B M Hegde, Sri Basavananda Swamiji of Nanagundi conveyed their good wishes to teacher Sulochana through video conference.
A short film on 75th years journey of life of Sulochana and website was launched on this occasion.
After receiving the honour, Sulochana Shetty, "I always wished to be a teacher and became one. My experience in the field in ten years has made me a better teacher and immensely shaped my personality. THe credit to all my achievements goes to my father and he is my true inspiration. His qualities, especiallay discipline and punctuality and many other qualities helped me to obtain success in profession. Being straight forward and stern have been my strength. I wish that today's celebration inspire and motivate many others who work for the society.
