With over 1 cr jabs by afternoon, India sets new record for daily Covid doses

New Delhi, Sep 17 (IANS): India on Friday set a new record of administering Covid vaccines after administering over a crore jabs by 1.30 p.m., breaking its previous record of 1.33 crore inoculations in a day, said Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

Mandaviya tweeted in Hindi (loosely translated as): "On the occasion of PM Modi's birthday, India has made a record of fastest vaccination and has crossed the milestone of 1.33 crore vaccinations ... and we are moving ahead continuously." He added in the same tweet, "I hope we will make a new record of vaccination today and will present it like a gift to the PM."

The Union health ministry aims to set a Covid-19 vaccination record on Friday to mark the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP has planned a 20-day event called "Seva and Samarpan Abhiyan" to mark Modi's 20 years in public service.

On Thursday, Mandaviya called for a major push to the Covid-19 vaccination drive during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday on Friday, saying it would be the perfect gift for him. He also called on people who have not taken the vaccine till now to get inoculated.

Talking about the ongoing mass vaccination drive against Covid-19, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Thursday said that 20 per cent of India's adult population have received both doses of Covid-19 vaccine, while 62 per cent have got at least one dose of vaccine. He added that total 34 districts in India are still reporting weekly positivity rate of over 10 per cent, while 32 districts are reporting between 5-10 per cent weekly positive rate.

Me & wife vaccinated for 2nd dose Token No. 194 & 195 @ 11.30 on 15th September (Divine Mercy Retreat Center) sponsored by Lions club Bijai. I was waiting for 2 days for the confirmation message. Today morning to my surprise received message - vaccinated Covishield @ 08.19 am on 17/09/2021. Now realised that cowin.gov. in, is capable of playing with the Data falsely to achieve prefixed Target. Trust is Lost.

Lets take a minute to thank all those heath workers and the coordinators who made it possible. Vaccination is a word in the minds of all sensible people across the world today, some are lucky, many are not, as their country is still waiting to get help from big counties.. and then there is one country often dismissed as a cattle class, and that country is today leading the whole world in vaccination drive. Regardless of which party rules us, every legitimate indian must feel proud of the vaccination progress we made in the last few moths, while paying respect to those souls who could not get vaccine in the early phase and had to suffer..

He could have easily said 150 crores jabs by afternoon after all BJP is a record breaking party. How is your record with dead bodies floating in Ganges and around hospital compounds because BJP ministers are spokesmen of thier party!?!?!?!?!?…..

Your deep hatred is evident. but your cluelessness is even more evident. Bcz even a semi literate can make out the way how the vaccination data is gathered at ground level, where the vaccination is not possible without authentication, so every single count is against a valid individual. Alas, slaves and logic. LOL

If every day is Modis birthday , India would have vaccinated all Indians in 132 half days (66 days) . Many families would not have lost their loved ones. We wouldnot have seens floating bodies in Ganges . This also explains how Indian govt and political system works

Have some shame. before mocking such a phenomenal milestone Vaccination is not Child's play. it takes time to progress, effort, coordination, , and even people's interest to take it and many more. Even advanced countries are still evolving. but yes, there are losers who cant see good things, yes, be proud of your exitance lol
