Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 17: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, Sep 17 reported 124 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, while Udupi registered 93 new cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 17,31,091 samples have been tested so far, out of which 16,18,131 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,12,960 out of which 1,307 are currently active.
As many as 245 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
The district recorded two deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,628.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,16,470 as fine in 87,238 incidents of mask violation.
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,76,789 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 93 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 75,554 out of which 1,516 are currently active.
A total of 202 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Out of 93 new patients, 83 are in home isolation while 10 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 93 cases, as many as 37 are symptomatic and 56 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 48 new cases, Kundapur registered 18 and Karkala 27.
Coronavirus has claimed 460 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,68,216 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,59,954 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
