BJP upset over BSY's 'Modi wave not enough to win elections' comment

Bengaluru, Sep 20 (IANS): The BJP leadership in Karnataka and at the Centre is upset over former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa's comments that Modi wave alone will not win elections in the state, party sources said.

Yediyurappa had stated on Sunday while addressing a working committee meeting that the party workers should not be under the illusion that they can win elections using Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name alone. And they cannot rely on this factor alone. "The party workers should reach out to the people with their development work. The party should take workers from oppressed classes in confidence and form booth-level teams," he explained.

Yediyurappa said it is easy to win Lok Sabha elections in the name of the Prime Minister, but the real test is to win upcoming bypolls in two assembly constituencies.

"No doubt the BJP will come to power in the next Lok Sabha elections in 2024 under the leadership ofPrime Minister Modi. But, the party should be strengthened to ensure victories in all elections," he said.

However, the party leadership is upset with these remarks. "The issue has been communicated to the high command, they will take a call," the sources in the party said.

However, on the other hand B.Y. Vijayendra has remarked while answering the question whether the party has put brakes on state tour plans of his father, he said, "all brakes are in the hands of my father. Yediyurappa can apply brakes whenever he wants."

The party insiders explain that, after he was asked to step down from the post of Chief Minister, this is the first time a bold statement has come from Yediyurappa with regard to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

See folks look into BSY s statements deeply. It definitely makes sense. For Congress it should be an EYE OPENER. Not going GAGA over it ! What has he said?? Modiji PM again?? OK with you?? That the 'State Of Karnataka ' is up for grabs that's what he is telling ! He is cautioning against complacency... Got it?? Not to take it for granted. Yesterday you read about the nonsensical Cong. strategy of going after frail JDS leaders and starting Operation Hand after April 2022.. Second part something... Brainless strategies... BSY is urging his party men to take the correct path... take development works to the people he says... Listen to the veteran..

What BSY said is absolutely right. Wave era has gone with Indira Gandhi, old pattern is gone. Works/performance of the party is sole criteria for winning the elections. Now most of the people are educated, media coverage is wide spread,; they don't get carried away by praise.

Indirectly, he wants to stress that the party is in need og Yeddiyurappa's full pledged moral and general support for the sai purpose. Type of indirect hint to consider his position in the party.

Amused by the sudden love for Dr Yeddy, Native Operations Specialist now retired since he's 79 years young. But one question here, BJP was never a force to reckon in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and in West Bengal, party is principal opposition. So there, clearly marks out the frustrations expressed.

Way back when Modi was running for PM there was a show on Times Now called devil's advocate which asked some really tough questions to Modi on Guajrat riots and Modi was speechless sweating stuttering and finally managed to say 'may to dost samajke aya tha' after which he was given water and then asked soft questions. Would love to see that video go viral but bjp/rss probably burnt all copies.
