Mangaluru: Customs officials seize gold worth Rs 13.88 lac from passenger at airport

Mangaluru, Sep 21: Officers of Customs at the Mangaluru International Airport seized gold which was being smuggled by a passenger on Tuesday September 21.

The officers seized 293.620 grams (net) of 24 carat purity gold, valued at Rs 13,88,823 from a male passenger hailing from Kasargod, Kerala.

The passenger had arrived from Dubai by Air India IXE384.

The gold was concealed inside two layers of black coloured cloth and inside a pink and maroon coloured floral designed blanket.

An offence case has been registered.

    "Unfortunately the Gold was not concealed in their favorite body part this time for a change." Possible that rectum is totally damaged cannot hold any more goods due to wear & tare and needs some correction. Hopefully, for next trip

    They are also tired of mentioning the same names again and again. Usually same words will be there . name , Middle name and surname if any may be interchanged that all. If you pull out a record of people who were caught smuggling gold through this airport since it began operations, you might find some 500 people so far, but the combination of words in the name may be hardly 50. What is there in the 'Name " said someone great once , and then signed his name under the quote.
