Kuwait Oct 16: Tulu Koota Kuwait began its two-day decennial celebration, ‘Tulu Parba 2010’, in a spectacular way by presenting a multilingual musical extravaganza, ‘Rasamanjari 2010’, on Thursday October 14 at American International School Auditorium, Maidan Hawally.
 
The programme started with a formal welcome by the compere, Purander Manchi, and Rekha Sachidananda.  President of the Koota, Swarna Shetty, along with the managing committee members and guests, lit the traditional lamp to symbolize the inauguration of the decennial events.  This was followed by welcome address by Swarna Shetty.  A welcome dance was presented by Aditi Suvarna, Anushaa and Rashmi Ramesh.














































Renowned playback singer, Anuradha Bhat, along with Prakash Mahadevan, Naveen Koppa, Roopa, Joshna, Sandesh and a few talented local singers,  entertained the audience with their melodious Kannada, Hindi, Tulu, Beary and Konkani songs, which included Belagale Tulu Nada Deepa, Nadedaduva Kamana Billu, Pardesiya, Impu – Sampu, Tera Honelaga, Sada Kannali, Yo bailo Yo, Surya Ninna Thayiyane, Apka Kya Hoga, Jum Jum Maya,  Dingiri Mama, Barsore Megha, Mathalli Helodalla, All is Well, Pandungu Endungu(Byari Aripo Thiripo), Ithalakdi, Sandeshe Athe, Kadala Mage, Aila Re Aila, Hosa Gana Bajana, and Ringa Ringa.

Melodious music was provided by music maestro, Adrian Gomes, and his troupe.  Foot-tapping dances were performed by Vinitha, Defni, Lakshmeesha and Doom group.  Rib-tickling skits were enacted by Prakash Shetty, Nasir, Santhosh Shetty, Karthik Gowda, Santhosh Kunder and Sudarshan Shetty.  The event was well-compered by visiting artiste, Navin Koppa. Joint secretary of the Koota, Agnel Saldanha, proposed vote of thanks.  The programme came to an end with a Baila session and the singing of the National Anthem of India.  Nagaraj Shetty, chairman of Karnataka Coastal Development Authority, and B R Shetty, prominent NRI businessman and social activist, had come here to be a part of the event.

The second day’s programme, ‘Tulu Parba’, started on Friday October 15 with a procession led by Shalini Yadunath Alva, followed by the lighting of the lamp by Tulu Koota president, Swarna Shetty, chief guests, management committee members and advisors.  A souvenir was released to mark the decennial celebration of the Koota, followed by the welcome address by Swarna Shetty and welcome dance by Sujatha Ramachandra.  B R Shetty, Dayananda Pai, Basti Vaman Shenoy, Ganesh Karnik, Nagaraj Shetty, Sunitha Shetty, Sara Aboobakkar, Seetharam Kulal and Sudhir Shetty were the guests of honour of the event. The guests also spoke a few words of wisdom during the ceremony.

During the entertainment part, beautiful dances were performed by Preethi Suvarna, Rovita D'souza, Rhythmscapes Dance Academy, Aditi, Anushaa and Prakash Mahadevan.  Hilarious skits were rendered by Prakash Shetty and party.  Melodious songs were sung by Suresh Salian, Prakash Mahadevan and other visiting artistes of ‘Rasamanjari’.  A delicious lunch, prepared by Avanthi Palace, was served to every participant.

The audiences were mesmerized by Kudroli Ganesh’s magic show, ‘Vismaya  Jadoo’.  ‘Tulunaada Porlu’, by Ronald, was a unique attempt at bringing back the sad memories of the air crash at Mangalore, the unity and solidarity displayed by the people belonging to all religions during the crisis.  ‘Adarsha Dampathi’, a fun-filled game show for the couples, hosted by very famous TV host, Manohar Prasad, provided a unique experience to the people, who enjoyed every bit of the programme.  Raffle draw was held thereafter, and 30 lucky winners were announced on the spot. Meritorious students were honoured with mementos and scholarships.

A Tulu play, ‘Paniyerelaathu Panande Budeyerelaathu’, by Remix Kalavider Kudla, was the main attraction of the day.  Kusaldarase Navin D Padil, Bhojraaj Vamanjoor, Sai Krishna, Gopinath Bhat, Vitobha Bhandarkar, Santhosh Shetty, Shobha Rai, Pascal Pinto and Mohandas Kamath were in the main cast. Vote of thanks was proposed by the Koota general secretary, Sathya Narayana.
