Udupi: 'Rathashree Arogyadhama' new unit of SDM Ayurveda hospital inaugrated

Udupi, Sep 25: The inaugural ceremony of “Rathnashree Arogyadhama', a new unit of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Ayurveda Hospital, Udupi was held on Saturday, September 25.

The new unit was inaugurated by Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Minister for AYUSH, Govt of India.

Shobha Karandlaje, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt of India, unveiled the statue of Goddess Saraswati at the waiting lounge of the hospital and also, inaugurated the Aesthetic Medicine unit – Shringara.

Deluxe Ward – Health Cottage unit was inaugurated by Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare and Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of Karnataka.

Dhyana Mandira of the hospital was inaugurated by Dr D Veerendra Heggade, President, SDM Educational Society, Ujire.

The Panchakarma Centre of the hospital was inaugurated by K Raghupathi Bhat, MLA, Udupi Constituency and the Special Ward was inaugurated by Pramod Madhwaraj, Former Minister, Govt. of Karnataka.

Later, the formal function was held at Bhavaprakasha Auditorium of the college. Dr Mamatha K V, Principal, SDM College of Ayurveda, Udupi welcomed the gathering.

Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Minister for AYUSH, Govt. of India addressed the gathering highlighting the role of Ayurveda in promotion of holistic health. He said that the health status of Indians can be enhanced by following AYUSH system of medicine and thus build a healthy nation. He stressed on carrying out vast research in the field of Ayurveda for its global acceptance. He wished the newly inaugurated hospital to serve the mankind, to strengthen the vision of our Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi’s “AtmaNirbhar Bharath”.

Sobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India highlighted the vision of Dr D Veerendra Heggade in making the educational institute the centre of excellence. She also added about role of RUDSET (Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute) in the development of self employment in rural India and stands as a role model for the society.

Dr D Veerendra Heggade, President, SDM Educational Society, Ujire highlighted the role of Ayurveda in health promotion in his presidential address. He stressed on the importance of Ayurveda in boosting the immunity of individuals, especially during the pandemics like the recent COVID 19. He advised general public to choose Ayurveda as the first line of treatment for their diseases and to cater to this choice, he established Rathnashree Arogyadhama he added. He expressed his happiness stating that, from the point of making Ayurveda achieve global acceptance he has established quality health care through various SDM hospitals.

Later, chief architect Gopala Bhat and civil engineer M D Ganesh were felicitated for their excellent construction work. The function was also graced by Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare and Backward Classes Welfare, Govt. of Karnataka, K Raghupathi Bhat, MLA, Udupi Constituency, Pramod Madhwaraj, former Minister, Govt. of Karnataka, D Harshendra Kumar, Secretary, SDMES, Dr D Surendra Kumar, Vice President, SDMES, Dr Prasanna N Rao, Principal, SDMCA, Hassan.

Other dignitaries like Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva’s Education Society, Sri Kurma Rao M, Deputy Commissioner, Udupi, and other dignitaries of SDM Educational Society and Udupi honoured the function by their presence.

Dr Nagaraj S, Medical Superintendent, thanked the dignitaries on and off the dias. The program was compered by Dr Ravindra Angadi, Associate Dean, Student Welfare, SDMCA, Udupi.
