Udupi, Oct 21: The construction work of the new railway station at Nandikoor is progressing on a fast phase by Konkan Railway (KR) authorities which aims to provide infrastructure for the fast developing industrial hub located in the periphery of Padubidri.
The site of Nandikoor Railway Station is in the proximity of Durgaparameshwari temple. It will be a full-fledged railway station, which will provide passenger train services in initial stage and later the express train services. The stop-over of express train services will benefit the industries. Besides, it will help to facilitate easy passage to the passengers hailing from surrounding villages of Padubidri, Hejamady, Palimar, Nandikoor, Mudarangady, Belman, Inna, Shirva, Nitte and Karkala.
The new railway station will benefit the passengers residing in Mulky and Belapu and surrounding villages that were forced to cover round-about a route to reach Padubidri Railway Station to board the trains.
The station has been provided with operating systems for change over of tracks by goods trains that supply coal to the project site of Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL).
The railway authorities have issued a deadline to the contractor as the first week of November to complete works on two-storey building of Nandikoor Railway Station, in order to facilitate its inaugural at its earliest, during the time of Deepavali.
