Puttur, Oct 4: Student Divit Rai, who stole limelight by urging the government to stop unscientific transfer of government school teachers, is encouraged to do engineering by former DCM Dr G Parameshwar. The former DCM paid his college fee.
When Divit Rai was studying in eighth grade at government school at Harady of Puttur, the then government had taken out circular asking additional teachers of government school to be transferred. During that time, Divit Rai had prevented the transfer of his school teachers by raising a complaint with the then home minister Dr G Parameshwar. Due to the complaint raised by Divit, transfer of most of the teachers of Dakshina Kannada district was withheld.
Dr G Parameshwar, who appreciated the effort of Divit had called his family to Bengaluru and had given a grant of Rs 10 lac to Harady government school on Divit’s request. Parameshwar also promised that he will adopt Divit Rai for his educational needs. Later Dr Parameshwar had suggested and cooperated in the studies of Divit regularly. He has even sponsored Divit when he went to Punjab in the Scouts and Guides programme. Now Divit Rai has joined Sahyadri engineering college and as promised Dr Parameshwar has paid his fees in full.
