Mangaluru, Oct 6: Second free Vaccination camp and health checkup for diabetes, haemoglobin and BP was organized on Wednesday October 6 at Divine Mercy Retreat Centre, Jail Road, Bejai.
Event was held with the collaboration of Mediquest Health care Kankanady, Mangalore City Corporation health center, Lions Club Bejai and Capuchin Fathers of St Anne’s Friary.
The camp began at 10 am in the morning with ceremony of lighting of the light. Preeti Maria D'Souza, member of Lions club Bejai was the compere for the event. The guests present on the dias were Vedavyas Kamath, MLA, Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza Capuchin, superior of St Anne’s Friary Mangalore, Sudhir Shetty Kannur, corporator MCC, Richard D'Souza, president of Lions Club Bejai, Thomas D'Souza, secretary, Oswald Furtado, treasurer, other members of Lions Club and members of Mediquest health care.
Vedavyas Kamath addressing the camp said, Life is a greatest gift of God. Corona has been troubling the lives of the people. Inorder to get away from Corona Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Collaboration of Karnataka Chief Minister Sri Basavaraj Bommai has been conducting the free vaccination camps throughout Karnataka. There is a great success as already more than 4 crore people have been benefitted from the free vaccination drive. He appreciated Richard D'Souza, president of Lions Bejai, members of Lions club, mediquest Health care, Capuchin Fathers of St Anne’s friary for collaborating to have free vaccination and free health check ups at Divine Mercy Centre Bejai.
The MLA also promised Fr Paul Melwyn that he would help out Capuchin Fathers incase of any trouble and need.
Fr Paul Melwyn Dsouza in his speech said, today is Mahalaya Amavase, on this day Hindu brethren remember all the elders and seek blessings for the betterment of oneself and family.
Free vaccination drive is a great help for all the people to protect ourselves from corona and remain healthy. He thanked Sri Vedavyas Kamat for being present for the great event inspite of his busy schedule. He also thanked Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Corporator MCC for his gracious presence during the first as well as on this day of second free vaccination drive.
Thomas D'Souza, secretary of Lions Club in his thanksgiving speech thanked Vedavyas Kamat MLA, Sudhir Shetty Kannur Corporator MCC, Mediquest Health care, Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza and Capuchin Fathers of St Anne’s Friary, all members of Lions Club and Mediquest health care for cooperating to have free vaccination drive and other health care check ups.
More than 500 people benefitted from the free vaccination camp. Capuchin Friars of St Anne’s friary, Divine mercy Core committee, Lions Club members, Assisi study Home boys and Mediquest Health care volunteers extended their helping hand in making this free vaccination camp a successful one.
