Bengaluru, Oct 7: Former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader S M Krishna inaugurated the Mysuru Dasara celebrations in the State’s cultural capital of Mysuru and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who participated in the function, declared that the State Government will take steps to develop an international tourism circuit to make the Dasara celebrations world famous.
While Krishna recalled his association with Mysuru and the historical as well as cultural importance of the Dasara celebrations, the Chief Minister said Karnataka will strive to put the festival on the international tourism circuit to popularise Karnataka’s culture and historical importance just like many other nternational tourism circuits associated with different cities like Rome, Paris etc. to attract larger number of international tourists to Mysuru and other parts of the State.
Bommai lamented that the Dasara festival and celebrations had to be low key due the Covid pandemic during the last couple of years and hoped that it will regain its lost glory from next year onwards in which all the people of the State will be able to happily participate.
Bommai along with his wife Channamma offered pujas to Goddess Chamundeshwari in the morning. S N Krishna also offered pujas with his wife before the formal function.
Ministers R Ashok, S T Somashekar, Byrathi Basavaraj, V Sunil Kumar, B C Patil, Shashikala Jolle, and legislators Aravind Bellad, S A Ramadas, Tanvir Sait, G T Deve Gowda and others were present.
Earlier in the morning, the Chief Minister along with State Governor Thawaar Chand Ghehlot received President Ram Nath Kovind at the Mysuru airport, who later inaugurated, who later inaugurated the 450-bed hospital in the Chamarajanagara district.
