Kundapur, Oct 8: “The state has not been able to achieve excellence in the education system yet. There are constraints. The sector is troubled by scarcity of teachers and school buildings. It has not been possible to provide them. There are two teachers in schools with only 10 – 12 students. The locals do not agree to suspend schools with fewer children. Such people do not send their children to those schools also. Meanwhile there are plans to construct a model school for each gram,” said Karnataka minister of education B C Nagesh.

He was speaking after visiting and inspecting the facilities at Kundapur pre University College. “Five thousand teachers are being appointed now. Yet there is a scarcity of 10 -12 thousand teachers. This college that has a history of 135 years has provided great people to the nation,” he said.
