Mangalore: Buses off Road on Oct 27 Demanding NH - 17 Repairs

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SB)

Mangalore, Oct 25: The city, service and inter-state buses will be off the roads on Wednesday October 27 from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm demanding immediate repairs of NH 17 from Mulky to Tokkottu, said Ivan D'Souza, president of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Karmika Parishat Bus Naukarara Sangha here on Monday October 25.

He was speaking at the joint press meet called by the sangha, Canara Bus Owners' Association and Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators Association (DKBOA). The sangha will also hold a padayatra from Nantoor to Talapady, the stretch of NH 17.

D'Souza said that no buses will operate on the Mulki-Talapady stretch of NH 17 on the day. He lambasted at the attitude of authorities concerned as the bus workers and passengers alike suffer due to the
apathy. There has been no favourable responses to the memorandum submitted to the concerned in this regard, he said.

Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators Association (DKBOA) general secretary Aziz Partipady said the bad condition of the NH 17 from Mahaveer Circle up to Talapady is a nightmare for passengers and the bus owners and crew alike. It has been difficult to keep the time due to pothole-ridden roads. Canara Bus Operators' Association (CBOA) president K Rajavarma Ballal was present.

The decision had been taken by the sangha on Saturday October 23 to keep the buses off the road on Wednesday, which now has got the support from the bus owners associations too.

Each time when I plan to go towards Kerala at NH-17, I curse my fate. Driving on such badly damaged huge potholes creates so much misery, frustration, delay in reaching on time, damages to the car and not sure, whether I will make it. The tragedy is that the Central & the State Govts are least bothered about the safety of the daily traveling school/college going students, working class people, the 2-wheeler riders, senior citizens, ambulances with serious patients and the shops & houses on both sides of the dusty road. Are we living in a banana democracy or the country that is bankrupt? The concerned officials are not answerable to their failures and there is no way of getting legal remedy to such vast neglects? Where are the protectors our people, our culture and our country? Where are the MLAs and the MPs who had promised moon for us? Are they not answerable to our silent suffering?

    WHAT IS THE USE?
BUSES OFF THE ROAD. INCONVINIENCE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, LOSS TO THE TRANSPORT COMPANIES.
IF YOU WANT REAL SOLUTION THEN: 1. DIG UP THE ROADS IN FRONT OF ALL THE CORRUPT OFFICERS HOMES SO THAT THEY AND THEIR FAMILIES SUFFER.
    2. CATCH HOLD OF THE MONEY EATING GOVT. ENGINEERS AND THE MONEY MAKING DISHONEST CONTRACTORS AND SHAME THEM IN PUBLIC.
OUR ROADS WILL START SHINING IMMIDIATELY.

    Dear all,
I was supposed to fly to join to my job at USA on 17 Oct.
I wanted to leave my new NINJA bike at my new flat on the 16th.
At Mallikatta, I fell into a ditch and damaged my left knee.
There are more pot holes and less roads all over Mangalore.
Because of this, I cannot join my job for at least next 60 days.
Who is going to pay me?
One must directly target the officials concerned. A bundh will definitely will not help.
All these pot holes can cause spondylities and some other severe health problems to citizens

Nothing to say well done. Let them first see that students exams are not on those days and then order the buses to be off the roads. If the children of Ivan Dsouza were having exams on that day he would not have orered this to happen.

Mr. Ivan nothing is going to happen. This was done before also. nothing happened. One day off the road is not enough. Why only our south kanara roads are bad.All ministers are money eaters. The puiblic also should react on this. A simple road near Bendoor(st. thresa school) Ivan first repair that,Road near kanaknady,Nandi gudda repair these roads then go for highway. You are not able to repair these simple roads. What protest are you doing just to keep your name.

Good move from the team of transport organisation. There should be mass agitation from the public for the delay and bad quality of road works. The public in the district suffering from long time. Both the state and Union Government are so negligence in these Projects. The fly over at Bikarnakatee is under construction for the last 4 years what a poor planning? None of the elected representative or the officers are bothered to deliver any projects in time. If there is no funds why these projects are to be initiated? Just for getting short term milage of improvement these leaders are fooling the public. Our leaders are making foreign study tours but not learned any thing with the requirement of infrastructure developments. They are looting taxpayers money. The NH 48 strech between Uppimagadi and Sakaleshpur is suffering from more than 10 years with bad quality repairs and what our Engineers dooing? We fed up with corroupt officials and leaders. No moral with rulers of this country. DK and Udupi districts are found to be well educated public who should stand up for the betterment of our infrastructure requirements.

    hi, ivan d'souza,

You should understand that both you & public are suffering from your deceision.

you will loose your collection(income) & public will pay more for alternative mode of travel.

To resolve the issue you should contact siddu & co. for padayatra to new delhi to give memorandum to 10 janpath.

siddu & co. are waiting for opportunity for padayatra with rvd, dks, motamma, ugrappa etc.

Or you can contact BJP i.e. B.Janardhan Poojary who will address in Mangalore Press club about NH17 for hours.

If you want road in good condition for all season please contact SHRIMAAN YEDIYURAPPAJI.

I am so happy that such a decision is taken at last. After the strike and Padayathra if the authorities are not taking any action means then the roads have to be blocked for a week time. I am travelling every day from Pumpwell to Talapady and right now I have to wear a neck collar because of the bad condition of the roads. I wish the organizers all the best and pray for the success.

Well done...well done. This is the only way to wake up our elected officials from their sleep and notify them of their responsibilities. This shows the efficiency of our present Govt. Come on Kannadigas, get down to the road and fight for right. Good luck.
