Byndoor, Oct 11: "In a mega Padayatra organized at Gangolli to register their protest against illegal cow slaughter that has been going on in Gangolli, the Hindus had taken part unitedly. Just because of the fact that the fisherwomen, fish vendors and other women took part in the programme, a particular community has boycotted fish purchases at Gangolli. People of that community have been stopping people of their community at the fish market at Gangolli from making any purchases, which is condemnable," stated Udupi district BJP general secretary, Sadananda Uppinakudru.
Sadananda was speaking at a programme of buying fish from Gangolli fish market organized by the BJP Byndoor Mandal backward classes morcha on Sunday October 11.
"Women have been eking out a living by vending fish in the fish market at Gangolli. An effort to damage their self-confidence is being made by a community by boycotting purchase of fish from them. This effort of a particular community will not become successful. Towards browbeating the economic boycott and supporting the fisherwomen by extending moral support, we are always with them," he stated. He also said that the programme of purchasing fish from the Gangolli fish market has been undertaken with this specific objective. He assured that people from the district and different parts of this constituency will come to Gangolli to buy fish at the fish market. He said this is not against any particular persons and not even a form of protest.
Byndoor BJP backward classes morcha president Santosh Poojary, general secretary, Ganesh Devadiga and Chandra Jogi, secretary, Umesh Mogaveera, Santhosh Poojary, Udupi district BJP Raita Morcha general sectetary, Goplal Kanchan, Narayana Kharvi, Ravi Ganiga Kenchanur and others were present.
