Mangaluru: Recruitment of workers from other states in airport creates heartburn

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Oct 12: "The apprehensions we had when the airport here was given to Adani group are proving to be true now. Local employees working under various contract companies at the airport are being dropped under one pretext or the other. Preference is being given for the recruitment of contract workers from other states," said Democratic Youth Federation of India state president, Muneer Katipalla.

He said that recruitment is underway for the fire brigade at the airport here now. "As there is no provision for contract workers for fire brigade, Adani company has to make direct recruitment. Even though they need 80 staff, currently, only 20 are being recruited. Adani is neither giving preference to local workers nor conducting the exercise in a transparent manner. They are searching for staff in other states in the guise of needing experienced workers," he said.

He pointedly questioned BJP supporters what they have to say in the light of these developments, as they had claimed in the past that the airport was given just for maintenance and not sold. In a release, he urged the people of Tulunadu to raise their voices against these injustices.
