Beijing, Oct 27 (IANS) China's lunar probe Chang'e-2 was manoeuvered to an experimental orbit Tuesday evening for taking pictures of the moon's Sinus Iridium or Bay of Rainbows.
Scientists successfully sent the satellite into the orbit just 15 km above the moon, Xinhua reported citing a flight control official in Beijing.
Chang'e-2 was launched Oct 1 by a Long March-3C carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan province.
