Six Disqualified BJP MLAs Willing to Return to Ruling Camp
Bangalore, Oct 27 (PTI): Six disqualified BJP legislators today expressed their willingness to return to the ruling camp in a truce brokered by Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy, but the party was lukewarm to their overtures.
Word was out to the press from the Reddy camp this afternoon that some disqualified BJP legislators would turn up at the party's Malleshwaram office and "confess" their mistakes.
However, it did not happen which the BJP sources said was to due to the fact that the party was not enthusiastic about their return now. According to the sources, though the six of the 11 disqualified MLAs are keen to retrace their steps, a final call would be taken after consultations with the central leadership.
The 11 MLAs have challenged their disqualification from the Assembly membership by Speaker K G Bopaiah, and the High Court has reserved orders on their petitions. A section of these BJP MLAs last week publicly expressed their willingness to talk to party central leadership to discuss the issues that they have raised, but were firm in their demand on Yeddyurappa's removal from the chief ministership.
The MLAs were disqualified after they along with five Independent legislators withdrew their support to the Yeddyurappa Government, forcing it to seek vote of confidence twice.
