KUWAIT, Oct 29(Kuwait Times): The exploration and production information team from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has won the award of World Oil Journal. The team received the award in the category of 'Best innovative system for oil data management solutions.

' It was the subject of the electronic gateway project 'Sahala' used by the Company in its business. The Company's representatives received the award at a ceremony held in Huston, Texas on 14th October this year. This award is highly estimated on the level of oil and gas industry. Major world companies participate in this award. It is awarded in appreciation of the innovative ideas and works and leading projects that contribute to the technological development and promotion of progress in this industry.

Kuwait Oil Company has introduced Sahala program to replace other programs that no longer fulfill the Company's requirements. The new application contributes to the provision of high quality information within a much shorter time. This system is called 'Sahala,' in view of its several benefits to the users of exploration and production databases, thereby, accelerating timely decision-making through many studies and analysis of different information available in many databases. 'Sahala' program is deemed to
be the main gateway for all exploration and production information to access all the user's needs of integrated data, relate to each other.

These present them in the form of text reports or locate the same on the site maps connected to the GIS database. The winning of this first award reflects the importance paid by oil companies to their data related to their exploration, and the contribution of this information in terms of setting proper and immediate solutions for their problems, in addition to setting future plans. Furthermore, it manifests the role of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) as a major oil company with distinguished footprint on the map
of oil business in the world.
