Global Toastmasters Club, one of the popular Toastmaster clubs in Jubail  hosted a unique workshop on 'Child Development Programme' for the benefit of students of Indian International School, Jubail recently. The workshop was held at deluxe Ibn Zahr beach camp of Jubail Industrial town.

The workshop turned out to be a huge success with the active participation of good numbers of students belonging to 10th ,11th and 12th standards. The principal of Indian International School, who himself was one of the presenters in the workshop, had cheered the students for participation as he considered it as a dire necessity for students studying in Saudi Arabia. The programme began with the reading of mission statement of Toastmasters International by Toastmaster Aziz Siddiqui, who also welcomed the president of the club Toastmaster Shameer Ahmed to initiate the workshop.

Toastmaster Shameer Ahmed, a Mangalorean heading this club, emphasized the need for such a programme as it helped the students to decide upon their educational career, overcome the hurdles related to memory enhancement and performance improvement. He said he was proud to lead such a club which had pioneered various programmes of interests in the past.

DTM PGR Nair, a veteran toastmaster in Jubail delivered a motivational speech to kindle students’ interest in toastmaster activities.

A memory enhancement workshop was conducted by Dr Geetha Ramakrishna, a dietician, who is presently working as science teacher at American Embassy School in Jubail. She explained various techniques of memory enhancement. The workshop ended with a question-answer session in which students participated enthusiastically.

The second workshop of the day was conducted by Ramesh, ex-principal of an engineering college in Bangalore. He spoke about the various disciplines and faculty of learning available in the engineering field and explained the career options open for engineering students. However, he stressed that students should choose a field of study which is compatible with their interests or skills rather than bowing to parental pressure. A brief question-answer session followed it to clarify the doubts of the students.

Dr Syed Hameed, the principal of Indian International School Jubail conducted a work shop on ‘After 12th, What?‘  He explained various issues related to admission to professional colleges, entrance tests etc. The question-answer segment of this session was handled by Prof Mohd Nagur Meeran, the competitive head-cum-math’s teacher of IISJ.

What an amazing story of Jubail that has in possession the Global Toastmasters Club that is actively conducting the Workshops for the benefit of young students. Let the young men and women of Jubail get the best possible benefits from the Toastmasters groups so that in addition to Jubail being one of the largest Petrochemical Center of the world will also be able to boast of the Toastmasters activities that will instill the leadership benefits not only for the Indian community but also to all the other nationalities that exist in and around Jubail. Oh ! how we wish to visit Jubail some time and rcollect all that we enjoyed in that simple fishing village 40 years ago.
