Lucknow, Nov 1 (IANS): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murli Manohar Joshi Monday said those involved in the Adarsh Housing Society scam should not be allowed to continue in their posts.
"Taking stern action against those found guilty in the enquiry is another thing, but those against whom there are prima-facie evidence of corruption, should not hold any charge and must not continue in their posts," he said.
"Corruption in the defence sector is really a matter of concern. The housing society scam is an insult to Kargil martyrs. An extensive probe is required in the case to ensure all the culprits involved in the scam face a strict action," Joshi told reporters at a press conference here.
Referring to the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society controversy and rampant corruption in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games, Joshi said the enquiry pertaining to corrupt practices must be completed within a time frame.
"It has been seen a number of times that the government is in a habit of sitting on enquiry reports pertaining to financial irregularities and corruption. Taking this into account, the enquiry in the housing society scam and CWG corruption must be completed within a stipulated time and the reports be produced before parliament in the next session," he said.
Adarsh Housing Society, the 31-storeyed apartment block being constructed in Mumbai, has been hit by allegations of corruption, including charges that the flats, meant for Kargil heroes and war widows, were given to top bureaucrats, relatives of politicians and former army and navy chiefs, among others.
