Muscat: MCCP Cricket Tournament on Nov 5

Muscat, Nov 2: The executive committee of the Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish, (MCCP, Sts. Peter & Paul Church – Ruwi) under the leadership of its very first lady president, Monica Dantis is all set to organize the Annual Cricket Tournament for Adults (ladies and gents) on Friday, 5th November 2010 at  Muscat Sports Club, Al Wadi Al Kabir. 

As officially announced the registration timings for the respective categories are as below :-

Men below 40  :  9 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.
Men above 40  :  11.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Ladies   :  12 noon to 1 p.m.

It has been announced by the officials that boys studying in Std. VIII onwards should register in the Men below 40 category  and girls studying in Std. VIII onwards should register in the Ladies category

Traditional breakfast and lunch will be served and early bird prizes will be awarded to the lucky members who walk in between 9.00 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.


A separate day as Children’s Cricket Tournament Day has been reserved for the members’ children on Friday, 19th November 2010 from 3.00 p.m. to 8 p.m. The venue for this tournament also Muscat Sports Club Grounds at Al Wadi Al Kabir.  The members children wishing to participate and attend this event have to register themselves with either Mrs. Celine D’Souza on GSM 92616075 or Mrs. Jacintha Serrao on GSM 95853263 on or before 15th November, 2010!

Cyprian Misquith, current Vice President of MCCP responsible for Sports and Finance committees says - “ Come November, our members eagerly wait for this grand and interesting cricket event which is conducted annually for many years now.   Our cricket enthusiasts relish this event as it brings back childhood memories and reignites the cricketing days of their youth for the older generation.   This year’s event will be really different with the first lady President at the helm of operations.  The entire day will be fun filled cricket festival for all –  young and old.  We have planned to present a lot of surprises during the course of the day and we expect our members to turn out in large numbers. I would like mention here that our beloved country, Sultanate of Oman, is celebrating the 40th National Day in this month, which is a perfect setting for celebrations and sharing our joy with each other.  Last but not the least, the weather in Muscat is really pleasant in these days.  I am sure every cricket lover will enjoy the game in a fantastic weather.  ”   Cyprian is also the current president of the prestigious ABC Toastmasters Club - Oman

Alexander Sequeira, sports secretary of MCCP who is responsible for the tournament says – “ As usual, our members have shown a great interest in this Cricket Tournament and we are expecting a record crowd this time.  To give a special attention to our children we have reserved a special day for them and they will have many surprises on that day. As mentioned by our Vice President, Cyprian Misquith, weather in Oman is superb and it will be a great fun to play cricket in this month. We, the executive committee have worked very hard to present an enjoyable tournament for our members and their families.  I promise that there will be many surprises to everyone who attends.”

Suraj Rebello – Immediate Past President of MCCP and a dynamic leader in the sports arena and Dolly Gomes – a constant supporter of the community sports events, will be leading this tournament along with full Executive Committee members.
